Frederic Borch III Essay Prize 2016 competition winners

In the Spring of 2016 students were invited to submit entries for the Frederic Borch III Essay Prize, the title to be addressed was Does Oliver Cromwell merit a statue outside the Houses of Parliament? Fred Borch is an eminent American military historian and long-time member of the Association, who won our essay prize in 1975. The standard of essays was so high, and the competition so close, that in addition to the main prize, won by Rebecca Bowers, four other prizes were awarded to entrants. As well as being reproduced here Rebecca’s essay will be published in the 2017 edition of our annual journal Cromwelliana.

It is the intention of the Association to offer a similar essay prize in 2017, so please keep an eye on the web site for further details.
