Cromwellian BritainSince 1988 the Association’s annual journal, Cromwelliana, has included a regular ‘Cromwellian Britain’ feature, in which historians explore particular areas of Britain which possess some sort of civil war connections. Authors have approached this task in slightly different ways, and this is reflected in the texts. While some focus on a specific, single building, military or civilian, religious or secular, others range more widely to encompass a whole village, township, parish or borough. While some focus on a link with Oliver Cromwell and his immediate family, others explore broader civil war or parliamentarian connections. While some sites and events are well known and will probably already be quite familiar to readers, others are more
obscure and hitherto little studied.
